Questions we hear often
Can't find your answer? Send it to us on WhatsApp +62 899-6511-116 or at [email protected].
General
Do we need drone data first?
Not necessarily. The places directory, directions and the basemap work without an orthophoto. The orthophoto, the 3D model and the slope analysis do need drone survey data. Tell us about your area when you request a demo.
Does anyone need to install an app?
No. GeoGIS runs in the browser on Android phones, iPhones and computers. Just share the link.
Who keeps the places up to date?
Whoever you choose, through the admin panel. Admins manage everything, editors only manage places, and every change is kept in the history.
Can we export the place data?
Yes. The list of places can be imported from CSV and exported back to CSV from the admin panel, so it isn't locked into one system.
Does it work for areas bigger than one village?
Our demo maps a single village. For a tourism area, several villages at once or another kind of area, tell us what you need when you request a demo.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the size of the area, the data you already have and the features you need. We go through the numbers after the demo.
Technical
Does the map work on a weak signal?
The map arrives in pieces, so only what is on screen gets downloaded. A very slow connection will still be noticeable, especially in the 3D view, which is why the 3D view has a data-saver mode.
How is it different from Google Maps?
Google Maps is great for getting around in general. GeoGIS is about your own area: a far more detailed drone orthophoto, terrain data, a 3D model and a directory whose content you control, including places no other map lists yet.
The two work together, too. Any route in GeoGIS can be handed over to Google Maps with one button.
How do we make 360° photos?
Use a 360° camera or an app that produces a full sphere photo at a 2:1 ratio. Upload it in the admin panel and mark it as a 360° photo.
What data can we bring in?
Lists of places import from CSV using the template in the admin panel. For orthophotos, terrain data, 3D models or point clouds, tell us what format you have when you request a demo.
Running it
Is our data safe?
The admin panel uses logins with admin and editor roles. Every change is kept in the history, and places marked as draft are not shown publicly.
Do we need someone who knows GIS?
Not for day-to-day work. Adding places, photos and opening hours is easy for anyone used to filling in forms on a phone. Locations can come from the phone's GPS or a Google Maps link.
What language is the map in?
The map interface is currently in Indonesian.
Demo
What should we prepare for a demo?
The name of the area, any data you already have, and a few examples of places you'd like to show. We'll cover the rest in the demo.
How does the demo happen?
Say how you'd like it in the demo request form, for example a video call or a phone call. We confirm the time on WhatsApp.
Can we look at the demo right now?
Yes. The Carangwulung map is public at carangwulung.geogis.web.id.
